0.7% of the US national budget, or about 58.4 billion dollars, goes to foreign aid. [1] This is 27.8x the money going into our national parks [2], 2.4x the money going into NASA [3], and 57.4% (0.574x) of SNAP welfare [4]. That is 58.4 billion dollars leaving the country and disappearing. That is the entire GDP of Rhode Island in 2023 [5], barring about $200 million, vanishing. Every single year, almost the entire economic value of 2023 Rhode Island is sent to go absolutely nowhere. How big of a number is that, and how does it affect you? About as much as it looks.

A January 2024 count found 32,882 homeless veterans in the United States [6]. If the 58.4 billion dollars going into U.S. foreign aid was instead redirected towards them, it would give every single one about 1.77 million. That is, housing, food, medical expenses, etc., for about 15-25 years. Every single year.

The money going to Israel alone could do that. About 3.8 billion in military aid goes to Israel every year. [7] If this money was redirected, that translates to about $115k per year per homeless veteran in the United States.

Let's assume instead that if it were stopped, the money would be cut entirely and save the government 58 billion dollars a year. There were, in 2022, 153.8 million tax returns filed [8]. Let's assume blindly once again that this translates 1:1 and disregard things like joint filings. Every single taxpayer would save $356 annually from that alone, $356 that could mean the difference for affording rent, or groceries, or a car payment, not a negligible sum by any means. With foreign aid, that's $356 of your money vanishing into the ether. Of that $356 stolen from you every year, $24.68 of that goes to Israel. Every single year, you buy a month of premium Netflix for a jew. The money goes to the military, not to the public, but the analogy still works.

You can look up the federal budget. I could look up my state budget, I don't know about all states.

I tried adopting the same percentages to my own spending. It was impossible.

10% on defense sounds good until you're 6 years in and don't really need another box of 556 or a shotgun or thermals or anything.... what am I tithing into? Right now, weaponized UAV R&D. Seems more like playtime than defense at this point. Anyone need a child size gas mask?

DoTransportation percentage pays the car and gas easily with savings for a new vehicle building slowly.

DoEducation allotment percentage goes towards internet and computer, hardware&software.

Wildlife/Parks percentage goes to home improvement and repairs. **This one goes into the negative if i follow strictly.**

Here is one of the main issues, all branches of the military and most government agencies are penalized for saving money. For example, when I was in the Army, our Company got funded a certain amount of money for the year. If we didnt use it all then the higher ups would reduce the budget for the next year to the number that was spent. So if my Company was given $100k for the year for training, ammo, etc. and only spent $80k, next year's funding would be $80k. So this incentivises waste. We would be in the last month of the fiscal year and running around with tue company card buying all kinds of shit we didnt need just to use all the money.

The system works this way all the way to the top. Pentagon funding in the billions of dollars is the same way. Every 3 letter agency works this way. Completely opposite of private sector where coming in on time and under budget is rewarded. This is the main reason why budgets never go down.

I've seen that in federal grants as well. And I've seen it where the timing was iffy so they put the charge on some kid's personal card so when it doesn't get reimburse approved outside of obligated period the grant owner doesn't have to eat the cost, the kid just loses out.

Welcome to the real world bitch

Seems like the national park money is being diverted. They charge a butt load at the good parks like Yellowstone but the employees are paid shit and there’s not that many other than that what expenses do they have, trash service a little power and a few vehicles. It’s nature in it’s unspoiled state it’s 100% free.
