You either get raped and shot by soviets or humiliated, raped, and starved to death in a real morgenthau-approved concentration camp by the americans. There was no way out and Germany was well and truly *completely* destroyed.

I'm glad my family miraculously somehow managed to get the fuck out whenever all hope was very much lost. But the SS and their families were pretty good at escaping to live another day in general. The eastern front amd being in small units typically operating without much support made them crafty and skilled as a rule.
