No it doesn't pale in comparison, it's actually much worse. Most of these women would end homeless because their house would be surrendered for jews, and then worked and starved to death in Eisenhower's prison camps.

The americans were actually more extreme in their german hatred than the soviets were. The soviets, though they killed off the eastern european germans, for their part left the germans in their zone alone after the new order was established. Zhukov was also a much better man than Eisenhower was. Truman, Morgenthau, and Eisenhower wanted the german race gone, and they starved millions to death. The only reason that they stopped was because western Germany was a very weak link to resist a potential soviet invasion, in fact there was a very real risk of it flipping to communism on its own, and they had to put aside their german hatred for realpolitik and give the western germans *something* back.

And one might think that the American guards might have had a hard time with this reality, and that they felt sympathy for the unfortunate prisoners. But as a matter of fact this also wasn't true in a majority of cases. American guards would chop the hands and fingers off of prisoners to collect watches and rings and would gleefully shoot at prisoners for escaping and at people as young as children for giving them food. They also tended to have no problem with shooting at other Americans that did feel sympathy for them. They would pretend to take food in for the prisoners before sadistically burning it, and would mock the prisoners with large piles of food that they denied any access to. The americans, unlike perhaps the soviets or the French, also had no remotely reasonable excuse for this hatred because no german had ever laid a finger on any American land or a single american civilian. It was for literally no reason. Perhaps the American military leadership deliberately chose sociopaths for this job.

And the americans had a large surplus of german prisoners, they would flee from the soviets because the soviets were at least brutally honest about what they did. The americans lied about it, promised they would follow the Geneva conventions, only to lawyer their way out of having to follow them and then keeping their POWs in massive open air concentration camps. And these POWs included anyone who worked in any government capacity whatsoever. So that means everyone from SS members down to postal clerks, forest rangers, and nurses. And considering that a sizeable percentage of germans were volkssturm, this inflates the numbers *substantially*. To be honest, I'd rather die by being shot or sent to a gulag to do slave labor than rot in a giant field with barbed wire fences on every side doing literally nothing but waiting to die.

The Berlin airlift likewise was a load of shit propaganda stunt. They gave more food to people who needed it less (uncharacteristically, the soviets managed to feed the eastern germans *more*) and were purposefully starving their own germans.
