There’s a pretty big difference between “grok give me sources so I can investigate” and “just tell me what to think about this”. I agree that it can be a helpful tool for certain research. But most people are using it for the dumbest shit imaginable.

They ask simple questions that could be answered easily if they rubbed their last two brain cells together, or they treat the clanker like a friend or even a romantic partner. And of course, AI is trained to be agreeable and tell you what you want to hear (unless you say something racist, of course), so it gives you the dopamine hit from whatever answer it gives you. It keeps you coming back for more while it collects your data and learns from you.

Plus, these data centers are tripling my electric bill. It needs to stop.
