Sicilians specifically cluster near Ashkenazis. Which makes sense given that it seems a good chunk of Ashkenazi DNA seems to stem from a very small population (like 300 individuals) that were in Southeast Europe early in the first millennia. There's some nuance to it. Both italies were shitholes before the risorgimento. The savoys set up shop in the north though, so industry gravitated towards it while the south stayed agricultural. It really just boils down to a false correlation between standard imperialism and colonization. The Mongols conquered everything in their path, but barely left a genetic signature anywhere at all because they never actively colonized anything. The Iranians could develop a type of missile that counts on getting intercepted in the air, and then splits into multiple bombs that just fall down and explode. The challenge would be for the bombs to survive the initial impact. Optionally the bombs could be dropped before the impact - meaning the missile itself just carries the bombs and deploys them before it gets destroyed. Maybe it could be remote controlled or be based on altitude.
