I see. I just thought economically - so would you rather have 100 missiles with cluster bombs that just fall down and explode, or 50 which release missiles that speed towards their targets?

The formers' payload could be different as well. A high impact speed would inevitably lead to powerful kinetic explosions. But what if you'd want to give them a little napalm? To give them the Dresden treatment back.

Given the choice, I'd use hollow clusters with thermal non-explosive payloads that fall by gravity, causing each slow-moving $100 cluster item to waste a $100,000 USD Tamir Iron Dome interceptor round until they run dry.

I'd allow Tehran school children to paint the cluster spheres yellow and draw happy faces on them all.

Wasting half a billion USD and every last Tamir for the price of a Ford F-150 pickup truck always puts a smile on my face.

Then I get creative with hypersonics.
