I don't normally defend Trump, but he's currently getting exactly what he wanted the entire time: Europe is ramping up their military spending. As far as I can tell, this is literally just posturing to force them to get serious about defense. I'll eat my hat if it turns out to be otherwise.
Europe being reliant on the US isn't a bug, it's a feature of US foreign policy. Trump's spat over european defense is just to satiate the minds of americans who have noticed it before. Trump is posturing, he will not change this paradigm. At least not long term.

It sounds retarded because these moves have nothing to do with what Trump is saying they’re about. This is either the North American Technate or the North American Union taking shape. Both plans included the U.S., Venezuela, Greenland and Canada becoming part of a union like the EU, the NAT throws a lot more nations under one umbrella than the ones I listed though, but the 3 I listed are a part of it.
The fact that Trump is now building out the infrastructure needed for a social credit system and AI governance tells me it’s about the North American Technate. He’s having the data centers built that are several million square foot in size that can store everyone’s digital footprint in one location. He’s having the power plants built that are needed for those data centers to function properly. He’s secured funding for the development of one of the most advanced LLM AI’s in existence that will be needed for monitoring the data centers, the smart tech and the national surveillance grid. Plus he has a bunch of tech jews involved in the Greenland takeover…..it almost has to be the North American Technate we are seeing become a reality.

Tariffs are not inflationary. Almost every country has tariffs on american goods and we sat here and ate shit for 30 years with little to no tariffs on most goods. Classical Imperialism is a zero sum game where the invading party usually gets involved in an aeons long quagmire with an assortment of various insurgents, and ends up spending more money on the war than they would even get from the resources. When the British and Spanish conquered half the world, those tribes didn't have assault rifles, IEDs, and technicals. 3 trillion was spent on Iraq for a military failure, 2 trillion was spent on Afghanistan for a military failure, 1 trillion (adjusted) was spent on Vietnam for a military failure. Clearly, this isn't working. Sure, if everything is clean cut and Venezuela doesn't split into a million factions, it can work. If it *does* follow the same path as everywhere else though, expect trillions to be spent on yet another military failure. Clearly, something has to be adjusted here.
I'd argue that classical Imperialism was already putting the final nail in its coffin when Japan got into their own pointless and unwinnable war against Chinese insurgents. The sino Japanese war was more or less the ancestor of all future imperialistic military failures.

EVERY war since ww2 was a failure, specifically BECAUSE we left "imperialism" behind. They were money grabs to anyone who could siphon as much as possible away from the taxpayer, just like our short term life pong politicians. Open imperialism breeds real patriotism and a tighter control on spending. Empires have accountability baked in. They fall when they forego that accountability and allow for parasites and self serving weak men to gain power, and they do it through the erosion of integrity in their culture. Those wars would've pasted a handful of DAYS and cost almost nothing if we had simply stayed 'we are now in control of this territory'. Korea Vietnam you name it. All from our attempt to hide imperialism with a veneer of civility. That obfuscation is what allows for the slime molds to grow in our system.

And it would eventually end in a stalemate of Russia controlling Europe and north and west Asia, China controlling south and east Asia, and US controlling the western hemisphere and Australia.
