it's warning about the dangers of many teenage perils:

- drugs
- stealing
- sneaking out
- body modification (including vain cosmetic surgery)
- coalburning
- lesbianism
- self mutilation
- ignoring your education

Caused by a broken home due to the actions of the mother (who still got custody even though she is an addict who while in treatment still uses).
