If you do have a group, make sure at least one member is a lawyer and you ALL sign an Engagement Letter with them. Guess what just happened? Everything discussed in the presence of that lawyer is now protected under attorney-client privilege and can't be used as evidence (so long as everyone present has an Engagement Letter with that attorney).
But again, stay the fuck away from any "card carrying" groups. Joining groups like that just makes it easy to target you; and even if they can't nail you properly, they can still detain, interrogate, and investigate you (again and again), etc. Remember, the process is the punishment.

I agree with your advice about not carrying membership cards but we should all have a small militia that we hang out with, train with, shoot with, lift weights with, workout with, discuss politics with, go hunting with. You can't be isolated out on your own. Purposely form a small community. If you find other like-minded guys, see if you can all relocate to an area or go in on large tract of land and sub divide it or something.
