Gaming is a fun hobby. Hobbies are meant to fill your free time aside from your normal occupation. They're not meant to dominate your every waking moment. The problem is younger generations have made it their sole endeavor in life.
I grew up with video games and have enjoyed them my entire life. That doesn't mean I think it's a good idea for my children (or young people in general) to waste away their youth in pursuit of something that is ultimately not going to give them any true fulfillment in life.
What I mean to say is... Unless they are going to pursue a career in game development, it's not justified to spend so much time frivolously. Feel free to call this the "boomer take." Sure. That's fine. It's also the reality of what's occurring.
Hurr durr music is shit these days anyway and I do nothing about it because I huff copium and think the overabundance of enemy art will make people hate the enemy.
I clearly made a distinction in my comment between doing nothing but playing video games and learning the craft of videogame design as a profession. Which is just not a reality for most of the zombies currently, constantly plugged in. They aren't going to suddenly switch from being consumers to capable creative video game designers.
Simply, mindlessly consuming video games leads to creating nothing. Nothing tangible. Not even a lasting memory of something substantial or beneficial. Unlike when learning to write or play music. Or learning to paint or sculpture.
You are childishly trying to maintain these inaccurate conflations and false equivalency.. And it's pretty obvious why. You want to be told it's okay to waste your life away playing video games. It isn't.
