If you are not trying to change something with your words, why are you making noise? I keep seeing this come up and it's not a failure of the left, it is a failure of the right. The right likes hearing noise. They like putting words together for no purpose.
A teacher creates sentences to affect a change (hopefully) in their students. A police officer yells "Stop!" in order to create a change in the perp's behavior. A monkey screeches or a bird calls when they see a predator to change the alert state of their family. Words are just a means of changing the environment with sound. It is the same as talking to a LLM, and always has been, since even before LLMs existed. Stop attributing mystical properties to language. It is a tool and nothing more.

In a high trust, high intelligence society, conversation is used to reach deeper understandings of Truth. That's why speech is enshrined as a fundamental right in those societies.
Somalia doesn't need free speech because there would be no point.

That is that bullshit mysticism I was talking about.

Speech is enshrined as a right because at some point you are going to have to convince others to either stand aside or help you murder some government assholes. It has nothing to do with "Truth" and everything to do with using words to make others behave a specific way.
