Well, in the most technical sense, they're not wrong. Medicine basically means any non-surgical means of treating something. Prescription eyeglasses are a medical device, like a knee brace. Whether they're aware of that, or if they literally believe glasses contain a substance that alters body chemistry like aspirin I can only speculate.
