I mean are they just doing an insanity defense plea? that doesn't sound so off base. mental institution or life in jail.

I'm sure she is off base in probably advocating for "total innocence" or something like that which is inappropriate. she is also probably discounting that schizos can commit crimes like this with deliberation and intent outside of an episode
