Germans went to America to check out Jim Crow to see if segregation to would work as a model for what to do with the jews, but came to the conclusion that it was cruel and unjust because they didn't have the frame of reference to understand why it was necessary. Ironically Americans would later see the German treatment of jews and gypsies as cruel and unjust for the exact same reason (and this is before all the holohoax propaganda from the 60s).
