I think this is what will lead back to fascism.

Everyone knows things are going to hell in a handbasket, and not just that but in such a way that pits us against each other instead of uniting us in the common struggle.

People who have seen communism know it won't help, because it puts the State before the People. We know democracy won't help, because the State doesn't differentiate between it's own People and outsiders (which is why democracies always need special laws to go to war).

But almost no one has actually seen fascism, and those who have tend to want to go back to it, a system where the State serves the People and has their entire authority to do so.

Fascism will win by default.

I've encountered old folks that lived in the Soviet Union. None had anything overall nice to say. I've seen enough videos of Eastern Slavs with nothing nice to say about the Soviet Union.
