If you have to buy, start at the second hand stores.

I'm doing drywall patches around the house today with leftovers from other jobs. Consumerism relies on waste.

The opposite of consumerism, is production.

produce something of value

^ This right here. Be a producer, not a consoomer.

I'd argue that minimalism is the opposite of consumerism.

Rather than producing stuff, do house-wide Spring-cleaning.

Remove all the clutter.

A potted plant or some candles is all you need to decorate a clean, uncluttered room.

Make your home intro a clean, calming, minimalist temple.

Your temple reference is spot on. Gratitude is far too rare. As if the gift of life somehow is not enough. It is your only true capital. No person has more or less of it.

Cross stitched with chinese acrylic thread from amazon, each skein of different color at considerable cost.

Buy (barter?) something from your fellow man, not foriegn bug men.

Consumerism is a disease caused by demons in human form. They have sold their souls and want yours.
