emulation (or whatever you call it when you use Windows stuff on Linux) is always a crapshoot. there's a whole page out there with a whole ranking system just to see what games can run through those emulators and how well, for example. it's not that simple.
and alt culture programs online are infamous for a reason. every other one has you set up some completely different compiler methodology that you then have to debug yourself when it inevitably doesn't work on the first try. just getting an .exe you can run for basically any Windows program has real value when you're trying to do things and don't want to waste time finding the cool open source version with 0.1x the features and usability instead.
our time on this Earth is too limited to be spending it figuring out random Linux crap, honestly. i think a debloated Windows with as much telemetry turned off as possible (through O&O ShutUp for example) is the best option for a real modern working man.
