I still remember my fury, when I launched calculator one time on my idling laptop and it took 10 full seconds to launch. Its mind boggling to think of the amout of calculations and data transfer that modern hardware could do in that time. It should be open before my eyes can ever register that I've finished clicking.

Yep, XP was peak Windows. It had all the drivers available for whatever peripherals you wanted, Direct X9, etc, etc.
