Please pray for me, the doctors have recommeneded I get surgery or a CPAP for it, and I currently dont have a guaranteed job where I would make enough money for either. I think it started right after I got covid in 2020, though it could also be due to my allergies.

I have met some thin people who had it, but it is usually a side effect of being fat

1. Those are outliers.
2. It can be fixed if you get septoplasty.

If you get too bulky you'll start having it too. When I was on cycle and had about 30lbs of extra muscle and muscle juice I was starting to snore really bad.

Good point, I think the learning here is don't get too bulky. That's a surrogate activity and it costs a ton of time and energy to maintain that could be invested for a higher life ROI. The whole point is to become aesthetic, not to be a meathead. Brad Pitt from Fight Club > Eddie Hall

I went from 215 maybe mid 20s BF to 180 this year. To get I mean real lean cut up one last time before I'm too old. I've been a big, power guy in the gym since HS. This year focusing 90% on running, mobility, and ROM. I feel better than I ever have. I used to say 20% BF was my place to sit, don't think I'll go over 15 again.

215 is "a big power guy"?

What are you, 5'2"?

215 at 6' is pretty large muscle wise, my heaviest was also 235 cause I was scared to hit 250 and break ladders at work. Your social media use is showing. Bodybuilder physiques are not the norm for human physiology. Also had around a 1800 total for the big 3. So yeah I was more into the strength.

You're probably stressed tf out or marginally overweight. Fasting solves both problems.

Sleep apnea can have several causes that you could resolve without fancy medical treatment. Talk to your doctor about resolving your sleep apnea naturally. A few simple steps you can take right now:

1. If you're overweight, start losing weight. And that doesn't mean go to the gym (although it's good if you do); It means stop eating so much.

2. If you drink, smoke, or use drugs, quit. If you don't want to quit, at least moderate your use more.

3. If you have high blood pressure, work on controlling your diet and your stress. Google what kinds of foods are bad for blood pressure, I'm not an expert. Pray, meditate, or practice deliberate deep slow breathing to decrease stress. Foods that cause systemic inflamation can also physically cause stress.

4. Try to get a decent amount of cardio exercise regularly. Cardio will naturally help with blood pressure and stress control. Cardio also keeps your lungs strong, and strong lungs could help prevent your airway getting blocked further up.

5. Ask your doctor how healthy your tonsils are. Some people collect deposits in their tonsils unusually fast, or collect unusually large deposits (tonsil stones), or just have easily irritated tonsils, which can affect your airway. If your tonsils are a problem, research ways to clean them out, dietary changes, or ask about having them surgically removed.

I got a grampa with sleep apnea, he has these strip things you put over your nose to expand your airway. They seem to work pretty well.

This is another key part of the story. Thank you for posting.

The jaws of some people just naturally (or "naturally given the lack of exercise, nutrition, etc.") can "slack jaw" when one is asleep. The mouth opens. The tongue drops back. Now we're in hypoxia/"sleep apnea". Not good.

People have seen great success with just a little bit of tape. It's not a little thing, in its outcome.

Thank you for mentioning it. Salute.

Nestor is not Jesus. We need to always vet our prophets. But I have found his books to be learned and have determined that he puts in the work to not just be talking out his ass on these topics.

I've got relatives who have had this for years and have brought it under control without surgery. Take a few bitter (important) herbal teas and try to lay off sugar and carbs as much as possible and I bet you"d see some improvement in less than a fortnight. They can't make money telling you that though

Supposedly, inclining your bed can help with alleviate sleep apnea. I would try that before going for any surgery.

Eat less, move more. Your road to eliminating this will cost you nothing in money, but the benefits that you achieve is your reacquisition of your health.

You should not have been downvoted, imo. I don't like downvoting in general but that's just me. In this case, you have something OP and others should consider.

The soft palate can be improved. Our skulls/the position of our teeth have been made more "narrow" by eating processed foods and _not eating_ the sort of foods we had to "work for" back in the day (dried meats, tubers/roots, strong grains, etc.). The soft palate can be restored to its optimal wide state by exercising it and also eating traditional foods. On the "eating traditional foods" part of this, please check out the Weston A Price Foundation and his books, documentaries, etc. Natural eating will restore our palates, our teeth, and our overall health.

As for Mewing, it's a form of exercise that can accelerate the restoration of a wide palate. It's not specifically an exercise to widen the throat, etc. so as such one might state that it's not really an anti-apnea treatment. But, in practice, it is. It creates more space in the mouth/skull for the tongue and for breathing.

For OP, I _highly_ recommend that you take the advice I see on this page so far (drop weight, improve nutrition, cut out junk, prioritize sleep, etc.). But mewing can be a very effective part of this story.

DO NOT go for the surgery right away, imo. IANAD. But, in my understanding, the surgery usually begins with "OK so we start by cutting out your tongue and then we move it." Yeah FUCK NO. That is a very invasive approach. Use your body to fix your body first.

Also, doctors view the CPAP as a universal good, it seems. I don't think most doctors would think that CPAP has any side effects. I think those doctors are very wrong. Having air pushed at a constant speed/pressure into one's lungs does not, I suspect, do anything good for one's esophagus, lungs, etc. And if the air has "bugs" (bacteria, etc.) in it, it might enable a deep lung infestation. Just a suspicion of mine. Anyways ...
