It's definitely not a principled stance. It is only because the Guardian ran a story associating the company with this activity.

They would never cutoff the US government for the same reason because it's likely their biggest customer. They know how their bread is getting buttered.

Consume Product is not meanspirited. Being mean for petty reasons is not the Consume Product way. Lead by example, be the change you want to see.
