First off lets both agree this is a tragedy and another jewish crime to add to the pile of their acts of terror. Israel is not a legitimate state.
Now et's break this down: Lebanese are usually Christian, but they're more central Asian Caucasian (arab admixture) than fully "White" when you look at a genetic cluster map. They're second cousins of a sort, the same way Turks, Armenians/Georgians, and some Iranians are.
As far as "American" goes, they were largely part of the mass migrations in the 1890s-1920 before getting locked down by the 1924 immigration laws. Since these kids were dual citizens (and living in Lebanon) their family was probably very recently naturalized.
So if you're not OK calling a Turk living in Berlin "German" then you should not be OK with recently naturalized Lebanese being called "American". There is a large Lebanese population near me, They're not disruptive, there are not 1.5 billion of them waiting to overwhelm us like pajeets. And given their genetic proximity I'm not getting bent out if shape if someone has a Lebanese grandma or whatever. But they are distinct.
