For what it is worth, the video of him jumping off the roof, in my opinion, seems to show that he had the rifle with him. Take a close look. To me, I see him wearing a backpack, but also holding a long object wrapped in a towel or blanket. He lays it first on the roof them brings it down with him when he drops.
Also, the drop was maybe 16 ft, not 30. Still dangerous (he does fuck up his leg) but not impossible.
