I think this whole thing will actually help that. They're currently possessed and see nothing wrong with their actions. They're able to get away with these feelings because their echo chambers include major media outlets so they can think of themselves as normal.

Not after this. Despite all of them cheering (openly or otherwise) for this act of political violence against their opponents, despite their echo media telling them that this was right and proper, suddenly it isn't. Suddenly everyone can see that they're monsters and saying so quite publicly.

This is going to be a wheat-from-chaff moment where Leftists will be divided into those who can honestly ask themselves "Are we the baddies?" and the rabid fanatics that may need to be put down.
