What is it with blacks and shoes?

Just had to spend 10 minutes listening to an old black boomer at work talking about how he needs to buy more cabinets to store his collection of 900+ pairs of shoes.

He's got a 4 bedroom house, lives alone, and has at least one bedroom devoted to his shoe collection.

Later in the conversation, I told him I had 5 kids then he responded with saying he was done after two.

Guess he wanted to focus on more important things like consooming shoes.

You need to spend +$300/pair of shoes now for a quality pair made by White people. Maybe $400. Danners high end boots are still decent as are Chippewa, Carolina, Redwing and Thoroughgood. You have to weigh the lifespan and use of the boots versus the cost. If you're doing heavy work in caustic or abrasive environments, its probably not worth it. If you're buying them for general hiking or casual use, it's probably a good idea to spend the cash if you can swing it.

I used to buy Carolina boots but I always destroyed them after a year of work. It wasn't worth spending hundreds of dollars on boots that last me a year when I could spend $30 at Goymart for boots that last me 6 months.
