The medieval world was far more interesting than people will tell you.

They went through the history books and anything they couldn't explain "rationally" they ignored. As if countless eyewitnesses over an extended period of time would simply be mistaken or engaging in a theoretical "mass hypnosis".

The true history of the world is way more amazing than anything "science" has come up with.
