I think they record it with the idea of inspiring others to do the same, but it doesn't have that effect. For one, it obviously incriminates those doing this. Second, it only inspires complacency.

What people actually think is, "Oh, good. Someone else is out there beating these shitskins, *so now I don't have to do anything."*

That kind of complacency will be our downfall. It's that kind of complacency that has people thinking, "someone not me should do something about this." It's that kind of complacency why people think, "I'm going to vote so hard against this next time."
