2,000 years ago the Romans were complaining about the Germanic tribes being backwards.
See, the Germanic tribes had their own unique patterns of clothing. Some of them would even iron their clothes. Their culture and language was far more complex than any modern European language. In fact, even Latin was simple compared to what our ancestors spoke.
The Roman's chief beef with the Germanic tribes were:
1. They didn't want to form an alliance with Rome.
2. They would slaughter the Roman troops from time to time.
3. Their borders kept expanding into Celtic territories (like Gaul), inching towards Rome.
4. The Romans thought they might be doing human sacrifice. (Probably just propaganda to encourage the Romans to fight the Germanic tribes.)
That was it.
In other words, 2,000 years ago our barbarians were more civilized than any other culture present on earth today.
