Some people point to cia support for the Mujahideen as evidence that the taliban is a gayop, but the taliban started as a resistance against the warlordism of the Mujahideen, and they actively fought a war against the former mujahideen to take control over the country, so no they do not share the same root. The mujahideen of the cia was the same one that supplied opium to the west and had warlords with boy wives.
