My wife and I are so lucky to be able to work from home 24/7 and be with our kids. Covid was bullshit but it allowed us to move into a single fam home and spend day and night with our kids. I wouldn't know how our kids would be right now if we both were gone all day, and our kid at a day care all day, and we spend 1-3 hours with them a day before doing it all over again.

Once they got the infrastructure in place all the remote jobs went to indians in indian who work for $1/hr

I made sure my bosses knew I'd be taking time to stay with my kids, and when they started having problems with that, I quit.

It's non-negotiable. If I have to cram the family into a single bedroom basement apartment in order to raise my kids myself, I will. There's nothing more important.
