Let's see, what did the people that had beef with the King of England and fought a war against the British mean by "no establishment of religion"?

Maybe one of the things they had a problem with the King over was that he was also the head of the official religion.

Exactly; government is separate because it is *subordinate* to the Church. This has been true in White Europe for a thousand years.
