This is the worst House of Councillors election result in the history of the LDP since it's formation in 1955.
They have completely lost the Right Wing vote.
Seems positive but i worry about the new "right wing party" that is rising. Sanseito party feels like another, kosher "israel first " party that won't actually get anything done and that's meant to take votes away from real nationalist alternative groups. . I find it really suspicious that they rose so fast and their leader is part of the Jewish- Yamato friendship" organization.
I hope this isn't another "Japanese Nigel Farage" situation.
A positive thing i can say about them is that they don't allow naturalized citizens to become party candidates and they were the ones who brought anti immigrant rhetheric to mainstream discussion in Japan and they also want to change the constitution completely. And in the new constitution they wrote up they want to ban naturalized citizens from public office for 3 generations.
And they popularized the "Japanese people first " slogan. (Nippon Jin First) "Japanese people first" is a much better slogan than "Japan first" or "America first" because it emphasizes on the "people" first and not the state. . Even if it turns out to be a lie and that they don't actualliy mean it(the leader of Sanseito said its "just a slogan" and they arent actually going to kick all foreigners out"), at least the slogan and idea has now entered Japanese mainstream consciousness and can outlast Sanseito.
BTW, id like to add that its the younger generation that is supporting Sanseito party because of their anti immigrant rhetheric. While i don't fully trust Sanseito i would like to add that bit of information because its a good thing that the younger people are so anti immigrant and not just the older people.
