Technically he doesn't, it's to satisfy his narcissism. None of this Trump bullshit was ever about the country, this was about the legacy. Trump wanted to have the legacy of best president ever, being talked about hundreds of years from now like he's George Washington or some shit. This was always about him, the country doing well is just a byproduct.
