The art of king of the hill is in the characters not the illustrations. Every character is well written and developed in their own way. It's also probably more relatable and funny if you have ever lived in the south.

Like most things on adult swim, I think the ugliness is intentional. It could be worse though, it could be calarts or corporate Memphis.
