To be fair, the Polish still think the Nazis were bad guys and believe the jewish stories that "Germany invaded for no reason at all and killed Catholics"

agree. but I enjoy cutting them a little slack as their ancestors spilled blood on their own land in that conflict. so as an American, I don't have the blood and emotional link to it as they do. I can understand why they are upset and also wrong.

As an American, it's your job to remind them with the ability to question the holocaust why it's wrong and that them being "upset" is because of jews, not Nazis. Christ can never be king of Poland, no matter how many times they try to say it, until they realize the Nazis were the good guys.
