To be wary of "any person, group or company attempting to portray itself as based or manly" would make us wary of literally everyone who is considering alliance or friendship. It's like assuming that every gathering of patriots *must* have a glowie present. That sort of attitude is something the enemy would like to encourage, to discourage us from working together.
