3D, 4D, 5D, Six Gorillion Dimensional chess was always just a cope utilized when someone was not doing what you expected them to do.
For example, I voted for Trump to repeal Obamacare. After 5 years of presidency he doesn't even pretend to care about delivering on this promise. He must be playing 3D chess!
Also most people can't even play 2D chess. There are many different variations of 3D chess and it is conceptually difficult for most to learn or even enjoy playing. There is no 4D chess or 5D chess concepts that anyone has thought of that are easy for anyone to understand.
