Technically that's correct, but in the modern West we've become accustomed to not smelling body odor, so when someone has it, it's noticeable and offensive. We've become more sophisticated, you could say, in that we now expect everyone around us to smell good. This wasn't always the norm. Nonwhites don't care because most of them don't use deodorant so they're noseblind to the smell of body odor, and whites used to be like this too, even as recently as the 1800s.
