There was no "sizeable presence of natives", just a handful of KhoiSan, Griqua, Bushmen, Strandlopers, mainly in the Cape. They are a capoid not negroid race. They are now known as Cape Coloureds and for the most part, aligned with Boers. We speak the same language and get along fine. I've mentioned before how a Cape Coloured man (total stranger) saved my life when I was young woman. He prevented me being raped and torn limb from limb by a car load of feral bantus. We employed them on our farm, they did all the team leader/supervisory roles. Our Cape Coloured workers also saved my dad's life when a regiment of feral bantus arrived on our farm and said "let's kill him". SA's racial dynamics is far more complex than you understand. Bantu invaders are an alien species, a useless, worthless waste of space. They migrated down from Congo 200 years after the Boers arrived. Note: it's not the Coloureds demanding "their" land back, or calling for the genocide of Boers, but the bantu invaders.
