The pace of deportations is 20 times too slow so this is not a temporary appeasement tactic. He dosen't plan to deport them, or he would have set mass deportations in motion months ago.

Trump has been ramping it up a bit but Obama had more deportations than trump on a X per day basis. So yeah, pretty shitty start if he’s actually trying to get rid of them

Obama didn't. Under Obama they would juice numbers by counting every time a mexican tried to jump the border and immediately stopped as a deportation.
