The true story of the Mexican-American War

On day one, war was declared. By the end of the day, a bunch of southern militia had already conquered Mexico.

Meanwhile, the European press was gloating that this was the end of the US.

After about a week or so the US military showed up and tried to reign in the southern militia men.

The US practically walked into Mexico City and took control.

Mexico City was shit. The US troops reported back to DC that there was nothing worth taking down there, and that the sooner they could leave Mexico City the better off we'd be.

The US went to Mexico and asked for an end to the war. Mexico said that they need money to try and restore order in their country. The US offered to buy large tracts of uninhabited land, and Mexico agreed.

A few years later Mexico offered to sell more land. We paid them enough money that they wouldn't offer again.

That's the truth of the history of foreign relations between Mexico and the US.

We don't want Mexico. Mexicans stink and there is nothing of value there. We barely wanted their land. We gave them money so that they would stop being such a big problem. Europe thought Mexico would win but they weren't even close to reality.
