> It's the landlord's responsibility to fix them.

See that attitude? Is it the landlord's responsibility to replace their lightbulbs too? The TV remote batteries? To clean their filthy laundry and floors? Is that why they dump their trash in the halls and common areas? It's the landlord's responsibility to clean up after them?

Goddamn worthless niggers!

It's always someone else's fault. I tried to find if this author is Jewish but I don't think she is which is the only surprising thing about this article

Don't bother yourself with the authors. Look at the Editors -- the boss of the writers!

No, I almost bought a share in an apartment building once. None of the other investors cared to visit the property, they just collected their share of rent and left the rest to the hired property manager. I actually wanted to see what I would be buying into and found that it was neglected. In hindsight, I shouldn't have cared and bought a slice of the pie, but at the time I didn't think it was a safe investment.

Rent is so exhorbinant the only way renters could destroy profits is if they burned down an entire building.

To replace a 9 volt battery. White people hear them and think "Great, we don't have any. Gotta pick some up from the store."

The chirping can last for a month, but yeah eventually they'll die out.

Seems like a lot of beeping going on in the ghetto for something that only last a month or so.

I live in an apartment building with hundreds of units, I'm always hearing beeping because when one detector finally dies, another gets a low battery.

Okay, I say we rig a few PA speakers to the back of a pickup and play the "chirp!" late at night.

What do you think happens? 🤣

That used to be the case but there are so many old smoke detectors around that were designed for lead acid batteries, now everyone puts lithium batteries in them that have almost no voltage drop when they are low on power and they can beep and be functional a year.

If it's a backup battery for a wired in unit it will chirp forever 👍🏿

My smoke detector is wired into the wall, the battery is just backup for power outages. I think a lot of the older ones are like this.
