Don't take the loss. If you own the property, higher a property manager and rent it. Or borrow against the value of the home and then surrender the keys to the bank. That's how millionaires evacuated NYC during Covid; they borrowed all the equity in their million-dollar apartments and then immediately handed the keys over, effectively making it a quitclaim deed sale to the bank. When NYC came around looking to collect property taxes on all these empty apartments, the banks told the city to go fuck themselves and, indeed, they did.
