If you do not have a house with a good sized fenced yard, you should not have a dog. You are just being selfish and putting your need to have a dog above the dog's need for a secure outdoor space.

Not to mention hygiene. I don't care how "clean" your dog is, if your dog is indoors-only your home smells like dog. If your cat is indoors-only your home smells like cat piss. Humans shouldn't live directly with animals. Owning a pet just for the sake of owning a pet is mentally ill behavior.

Many corporate rental communities charge "pet rent" -- usually around an extra $50-$150/ per pet. It's easy to avoid if you have cats, but almost impossible if you have a dog. It's absolute bullshit because you're basically paying a reverse ransom. I have a friend living in one of those communities who said he makes sure to take his dog to shit outside the lease office. "If I have to pay them to keep my dog, they can earn it by picking up his shits." 🤣

You are supposed to have them licensed and there’s some sort of fee if you get caught but it’s not really enforced. You are even supposed to register chickens in some parts, but everyone just openly ignores that for the most part.
I agree, dogs need to be outside and White folks everywhere need to be home owners; even if it's a small apartment. That's equity that you can use in a pinch and you're not asking anyone's permission to paint the walls or change the floors.
