Mengele wasn't even the chief medical officer at Auschwitz. That was Dr. Eduard Wirths under whom Mengele worked. At the first "Doctors Trial" at Nuremberg, Mengele was not wanted nor mentioned.
  
  
If he was so evil and notorious, how is that possible? It was only later when some crazy Jews started "remembering" him that his reputation spread like wild fire. Mengele initially was going to turn himself in to the Allies, but when he heard about the false accusations surrounding what happened at Auschwitz, he was convinced he would never be given a fair trial, which was true, and so he fled, not because he was guilty but rather because he wouldn't be allowed to prove his innocence.
  
Too bad the holocaust myth never really started until early 1960s. Funny though.
