I agree 100% with you that inflation is something that needs to be considered, as well as the relative cost. College tuition, cars, healthcare, and housing are more expensive now than ever, and salaries have lost purchasing power every year, although you lost me with the $2,000 PC built that most people will never need, not the best example.

I think he was just showing how ridiculous it is with the PC as part of the example. 2Gs can build a ridiculous PC that will play most games very competently at 1080p 60fps, and even more depending on game, but you can build something for just basic bitch shit, and light occasional gaming $750-$1k no problem. There are very few places that you can still rent for said prices unless you’re talking about maybe renting one room somewhere, or renting a house with three to four other people.
