DHI is also used to make light yellow and red pigmentation, depending on its proportions of co-polymerization with DHICA.

You sure these aren't present in everyone?

They are which is why ayh mention volume in another post. DI is higher in blacks DHI lower in blacks while DI is lower in whites DHI is higher. This variation is defined by a genetic marker and this volume is significant enough to be a differing metric for gene engineering
