In Hungarian calling someone a "jew" is an insult. It implies greedy, selfish, manipulative behavior. I guess for jews that's just a description of what they are.

I mean... here and nowadays sure. But in Hungary it was common at least since I was alive. In Germany in comparison it wasn't. Neither did I see it as an insult in the English language.

It was commonly used as a verb.....to "jew" someone meant to cheat them, swindle them, or somehow rip them off.
