Not sure if its what you were implying, but from my understanding, opossums don’t even carry rabies. They really decent little critters to have around in my experience. We had a bunch start coming around with their babies after Katrina, and they never caused any issues other than getting our dogs prey drive to kick in. Of course, we didn’t let them do anything to them.

Oposums are a lithmus test to a health garden and vegitation. They get rid of bad insects and keep rodents away. They are extremely beneficial to keep around if you have a garden. They are Gods miracle creatures that need to be protected extremely

Ha! Reading that made me wonder if that's the kind of thing people were saying a few thousand years back about the little critter that started hanging around granaries when we first started agriculture in earnest, catching and eating mice.

Just a shame opossums don't live very long. Even with the best human care, they only get to about 2 or 3 years.
