To put it simply, the National Socialists were shipping European Jews to the newly forming Israel, as a matter of policy.

There are two main reasons this has been largely memory holed: 1) it proves that Hitler had no real interest in murdering all the Jews, 2) when the allies blocked further transports of Jews to Israel, they locked them into Germany, which, along with cutting off food & supplies, indirectly caused the "holocaust".

It's more than that - Hitler was actually trying to prove his friendship to jews at the time.

Jews wanted Israel, but it wasn't recognized as a country at all, and this was the first recorded nation-scale support for 'the nation of Israel' (in the same vein of Trump recognizing Jerusalem as Israeli etc). He let jews who left take all belongings and cash with them with no penalty or tax, and the jews were allowed to even select the banks to handle the monetary exchange (reminding you that inflation was insane at the time, and they should have left with nearly nothing).
