Yeah, no shit. The US foreign policy is centered around Israel though, so war might happen regardless of how useful it can be for America. Iraq, Lybia, Syria - kinetically destroyed by the US military. Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Pakistan -leadership of these countries gets billions of American tax payer funds every year to not attack Israel.
